Kyra and Merit, two farmers wearing traditional Sunday Zeeland costumes,
- Free shipping within the Netherlands
This serene photographic image shows two farmer women in their Sunday Zeeland costumes, photographed from behind, as they look out together over the sea. Only their backs and characteristic bonnets are visible – a conscious choice by Rem van den Bosch to focus on form, silhouette, and silence.
On the left is Kyra in the Sunday Walcheren costume, on the right Merit in the Sunday costume from Nieuwland. Without faces, a timeless and universal image emerges, where the differences between the costumes become subtly visible in lines, fabrics, and bonnets. The sea before them enhances the feeling of peace, contemplation, and connection with the landscape.
The absence of direct expression gives the image an almost meditative power. It invites the viewer to give their own meaning to the moment – an ode to Zeeland heritage, carried by silence, form, and tradition.
This artwork is printed and finished on dibond or plexiglass in the Netherlands upon order, with an optional wooden frame. A modest and powerful form of wall decoration, perfect for interiors where peace, culture, and depth are central.
