Zeeuws Meisje is a unique online gallery where Zeeland traditional costume, heritage, and art photography come together in high-quality wall decoration. Behind Zeeuws Meisje are photographer and artist Rem van den Bosch and his partner Anaela Strutz. Their work translates traditional and modern costumes into powerful visual artworks that enrich your interior and tell a story.

Historically accurate traditional costume and heritage photography

Authenticity is central to Zeeuws Meisje. We work closely with traditional costume groups, associations, and heritage experts to ensure that every costume is historically accurate. Traditional costume photography should be executed with respect; that is a natural starting point for us.

Original jewelry is carefully loaned by private individuals and craftspeople, including Jankees Goud and jeweler Minderhoud from Westkapelle. These authentic pieces provide extra depth and make each artwork unique.

Modern traditional costume with respect for tradition

In addition to traditional costume, Zeeuws Meisje also showcases modern interpretations of traditional costume. These are always based on the original historical example and deviate exclusively in color or fabric choice. Form, meaning, and wearing style remain true to tradition.

The accessories are also crafted with care and skill.
The crocheted undercaps and shawls are handmade by Antoinette de Schipper. Other caps are made by Jankees Goud and Jo Koeman. The colored painted clogs come from Klompenmakerij Traas. Every detail contributes to the historical layering of the image.

Art photography without digital editing

Photographer Rem van den Bosch was educated at art academies and uses photography as a means to make connection, identity, and culture visible. His work goes beyond a portrait: it is a visual dialogue about heritage and beauty.

All artworks by Zeeuws Meisje are traditionally made, without Photoshop or digital manipulation. What you see is what was actually created in front of the camera.
