Behind the scenes in Volendam
A photoshoot full of light, clouds, and traditional costume
A few weeks ago, Volendam was the setting for a new photoshoot by Rem van den Bosch. We still need to carefully select the images, but we can share a sneak peek: a first look behind the scenes.
And what a look.
The light, the cloud formations, and the atmosphere all cooperated perfectly. Sometimes everything aligns — and this was one of those days.
Original and Recreated
During this shoot, Rem photographed both the traditional Volendam costume and our own recreation. The original attire was captured with respect, as it has been worn for generations. Additionally, there was room for a contemporary interpretation, in which color, fabric, and appearance were subtly adapted, without losing sight of the origin.
The recreation was made with great care and craftsmanship and creates a beautiful dialogue between past and present. Tradition remains recognizable but is given a new look — exactly what Zeeuws Meisje stands for.
Outlook
Although the final images are yet to come, these first moments promise much. The combination of Volendam's heritage, traditional costume, and natural conditions has yielded something that we would like to let ripen further.
More coming soon.
For now, this glimpse behind the scenes — as a preview of what's to come.
