A new chapter: All Zeeland regional costumes re-documented
After previous projects on the Walcheren costume, a new phase is now beginning.
At Zeeuws Meisje, we continue with where it all began: recreating and documenting all Zeeland costumes.
Now that the light is changing and the season is opening up again, we are eager to photograph once more. Not in a hurry, but with care. The first shoots are planned, and the energy is palpable, with the team, with the models, and behind the camera.
Photography with a substantive starting point
Our photo projects are never created solely for the image. Every project starts from a theme. From the very beginning, care for the world and the people around us has been the driving force behind the work of Rem van den Bosch.
This principle remains central in this new series as well. The Zeeland costumes are re-imagined with respect for their origin, but always placed in a contemporary context. Not as nostalgia, but as living culture.
What was left undone, now gets space
Due to last year's changeable weather, several recreations of Zeeland costumes have not yet been photographed. Those works weren't idle — they were waiting.
Now is the time to make them visible.
The costumes are ready, the locations chosen, and the models are prepared. What follows is a series of new images where Zeeland heritage, craftsmanship, and photography come together once again.
Looking ahead
This new phase marks not a conclusion, but a continuation.
Zeeuws Meisje continues to build a growing collection in which all Zeeland regions get their own place — documented with care, attention, and a clear substantive layer.
We look forward to sharing this process step by step.
To be continued.
Love, Ana
